The Good Schools Guide
The Good Schools Guide recently visited ACS Hillingdon and we are very pleased with their report.
The Good Schools Guide recently visited Hillingdon and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results of their findings. Some highlights include:
A real luxury to have so much space for learning and playing so close to London. We also rate the lively and cheerful atmosphere where music, sport and art balance the enquiry-led academic life of students in glorious grounds.
A calm and respectful atmosphere, with a laid back vibe. Pupils appreciate the diversity - all race, creeds and sexual orientation treated with equal deference.
Early years (Reception and Grade One) have their own spacious bungalows and playground set in the stunning grounds of this former mansion house. The linked indoor –outdoor learning and generous facilities make it a dreamy place to learn.
There’s an emphasis on technological skills for creating, building and innovation, with regular use of iPads. STEAM integrated in all learning. All students learn Spanish and are also exposed to a multitude of other languages. Pupils have a choice of IB courses, American AP courses or High School Diploma courses, but they are all involved in CAS (creativity, activity and service). Students can now opt for a more bespoke programme rather than the more conventional route - theatre arts, gaming and film studies are all popular, with excellent sound, filming and editing suites, as well as trips to nearby Pinewood Studios. The international cohort of teachers were praised as being caring and nurturing, with a few singled out as being ‘simply dedicated beyond expectation.’ Praise too, for the school not veering into sausage factory territory. ‘The school does not look at our children as grade machines,’ said one parent.”
