Graduation for Grade 12 Students
ACS Egham's 21st graduation featured 63 students from 17 nationalities on Friday 27th May 2022. Around 400 family, friends, faculty and dignatories attended the reception in the Woodlee Sports Centre, which had been turned into a giant marquee.
Expertly MC'd by Grade 11 students Veera Gupta and Samuel Dabney, students gave speeches on their time at ACS Egham and pondered on what the world holds next for them.
There were musical interludes from our Grade 12 students James Bender, Emily Lewis and Melis Ramazanogullari, and a student nominated Teacher Speaker in Sarah Garlick.
A number of awards were also handed out on the day including The prestigious Founders Award. This award is of special significance, named after our Founders, the late Mr Gordon E Speed and Mr Emmanuel J Poularas. Recipients of this award display excellent academic achievement, consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities and school life, service to others and school leadership.
This year the award went to Saskia Smith. Sakia is hoping to go to Durham University to study English Literature.
Valedictorian Tamerlan Asadov made his first ever public speech in accepting his award. He shared with the audience how he joined ACS Egham aged six as a timid boy not speaking any English but was leaving with fond memories and called on his fellow classmates to value peace and the opportunities they have.
“Throughout all these years, I felt not just as part of a school. I felt like a part of one big family. And this family is not just all of the students, but the teachers, the staff, the parents and everyone who made this wonderful experience possible. And each of the school days, beginning with waving hello to the security and ending with saying goodbye to my friends, would be filled with warmth, positivity and a strong sense of community”
Tamerlan is hoping to
It was both Jeremy Lewis and Leanne Larkin’s last Graduation at ACS Egham so a poignant moment for both. They, like our graduating class of 2022 go on to pastures new taking the spirit of ACS Egham with them.
We wish every success to each and every graduate and all colleagues moving on to new horizons.
