A summary of our recent ISI Inspection
In March Cobham received an ISI inspection. The educational quality inspection focuses on the two key outcomes concerning students’ achievement - their academic and personal development .
Over three days, the inspectors conducted interviews with students, parents and staff examined students work and observed lessons, form groups and some after school extra-curricular activities. The feedback was positive, insightful and constructive and we are very grateful for their support. Some of their key findings noted students’ excellent social awareness, care for others and generosity in wanting to improve the lives of others:
“Pupils have a strong determination to make a difference to the wider community and their world, in fulfilment of the school’s ambitious aims. They are conscious of and sensitive to the needs of others, and generous in their efforts to improve the lives of others in the community and the wider world, being encouraged to do so by the supportive ethos of the school”
Inspectors also particularly appreciated pupils’ inclusivity of one another regardless of individual need and valued the exceptionally positive atmosphere within the school which allows students to appreciate their rich and varied community. They noted that students develop very well in terms of self-confidence, mutual respect and self-discipline and reflect with pride upon their successes, identifying targets for improvement with compelling self-understanding and resilience.
“Pupils relate how their self-confidence has grown considerably since entry to the school, making a significant difference to them as learners and young people”
ACS Cobham students’ development as resilient, self-confident, self-disciplined, reflective learners and individuals was reported as excellent and their communication skills were assessed as a strength. Nearly all parents responded that the school equips their child with the team-working, collaborative and research skills they will need in later life.
The school's safeguarding team and provision was also deemed to be suitably robust, effective and flexible.
Often a report has a number of recommendations that the school needs to put in place, for ACS Cobham there was only one, that we need to share the practice from the best classrooms across the school to ensure that every child is appropriately challenged across the board.
"We will continue to work and improve as a community with your support. I am really pleased to share this external verification with you that shows we are on the right track."
We would like to thank everyone in our community who took the time to respond to the Inspectors’ enquiries and provide their individual feedback. These independent assessments are invaluable to the school as we continually strive to ensure every student receives the best education at ACS to prepare them for their future lives.
