By Caroline Breeds, ACS Corporate Relations Manager It’s been a very busy summer here at ACS International Schools. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary this year with a garden party at our Cobham campus....

Staff, parents, and guests enjoyed the occasion, reflecting on both how far ACS has come, and our exciting plans for the future.

Earlier this month we were delighted to invite guests to visit our new Science centre at ACS Hillingdon with an inspirational talk by Astronomist Mark Thompson from TV’s Stargazing Live, followed by demonstrations from the National Space Academy in our new science labs. What a great event this was!

The school’s new science centre includes seven new laboratories and features a specialist binocular microscope and reflecting telescope among its cutting-edge technology, as well as a electrophoresis unit which students can use to investigate and visualise DNA.
Thanks to those of you from the relocation community who were able to join us on the night, I hope you enjoyed it.

Following the graduation of last year's grade 12 students, I wanted to capture some of their inspirational quotes, from across all three of our UK campuses. The benefits of an international education are best summarised by those who have experienced it first hand:
Gabriel Blanchard, Diploma Student and 2017 Graduate, commented:
"The IB has already helped me achieve my goals as it has helped me gain a scholarship to my dream school, allowing me to study my passion which is Architectural Design. I also believe the IB provided me with a set of skills that will allow me to develop my abilities to the highest level in university."
Shreya Gupta, Diploma student and 2017 Graduate. Shreya received the highest score possible for the IB – 45 points, commented
"Yes the IB is difficult at times, but it is also interesting, enjoyable and surprising. It broadens your mind instils in you the value of time, encourages originality and increases your hunger for learning.
"It (being at an international school) has reinforced the idea of the Sanskrit phrase “Vasudev Kutumbakam” which means, “the world is a family.
“Attending an international school is like travelling the world, without actually travelling the world!”
Aditya Sharma, IB Diploma Student 2017 Graduate, commented:
"I think because the IB is so analytical in its approach, with a greater emphasis on gaining understanding rather than just memorising facts, it's a system that adapts us more to real life rather than stopping at our school education."
