By Caroline Breeds, ACS Corporate Relations Manager This month sees the end to our academic year. I am looking forward to attending ACS Hillingdon’s graduation, a great day of celebrations for our students having worked extremely hard in their final year. Good to luck to all of our ACS graduates this year!

Organised by the Parent Teacher Organisation, the ACS Egham International Fair brought together the whole school community to enjoy cuisine and traditions from every corner of the globe.
This year’s fair, with over 900 attendees, was inspired by the ‘one world, many stories’ theme and students chose five photos of special places from their home countries which were displayed on a giant screen during the afternoon’s festivities.
Verena Braga, Multicultural Coordinator of the PTO, commented:
'The International Fair is a great opportunity for the whole school community to share our different native cultures, language and traditions, helping students develop a greater sense of global citizenship.'
Over 30 different nationalities were represented in the Fair’s ‘Parade of Nations’, where students dressed in their national costumes and carried their country’s flags. Throughout the day, students and guests played games including tennis, baseball and fencing; spent time on arts and crafts activities; and shared stories from their different countries.
Students aged 14 to 17 also raised awareness of their work with ORBIS, a global sight-saving charity, by explaining the way eyes work through playing various games. Every year, a few ACS students embark on a journalism internship with ORBIS. Last year five students visited India, promoting awareness of the charity’s work through producing a short narrative film and posting regular blogs, photos, and social media updates.
Verena added:
Thank you to everyone who helped organise such a successful day and to our wonderful parents and staff in raising £3,350 for our chosen charity, Runnymede Foodbank, which provides emergency food and support across our local area.
I recently attended the EuRA conference – The Power of Challenge, attended by 675 delegates from around the globe. Tony Chapman gave a great keynote speech to get the conference started – Getting heard in the age of noise. Tell a story, sell a brand. There were also a variety of different breakout sessions over the three days giving delegates the opportunity to learn more about a variety of interesting and relevant topics.
Me and my ACS colleagues were delighted to attend the Relocate awards at the Science museum in London, with a focus on looking forward to the future.
Maggie Philbin was a great keynote speaker also in attendance were representatives from the National Space Academy and innovation ambassadors. An interesting evening was had by all whom attended. Many congratulations to those who won awards that evening!
